About Us
General Linear Systems, Inc. was founded in 1976 by Garrett “Bill” and Annette “Kiwi” Hartney in Fullerton California. Beginning with manufacturing Linear Amplifiers for Ham Radios. GLS Inc. moved to winding custom coils and solenoids in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.
A continued focus on the custom coil and solenoid market continued throughout the 1990’s and early 2000’s with many long-term customers and programs. A focus on custom magnetics for the aerospace and defense industries, commercial aircraft, commercial, industrial, transportation and chip manufacturing has lead to steady and consistent growth that continues today.
In 1993, current President, Jeff Steele, began working with Bill and Kiwi in manufacturing winding and assembling coils, solenoids and transformers. In 2006, Jeff lead Finance and Accounting and later in 2013 Manufacturing Operations. In 2021, Jeff acquired the company from the Hartney family after the untimely death of both Bill and Kiwi in 2020.
General Linear Systems enters its 50th year by focusing on what is important, our employees and customers. We look forward to continued growth and success!
